Deuteronomy 9 – Bible in a Year

By No Comments2 min read

Checking out Deuteronomy 9-12.

Did Jesus say this?? To love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul’…

For sure Moses said it here, (Deut 11:13)

Where have you read that before?

Matthew 22:37 maybe! Jesus!!!!

A key!

Deuteronomy 9-12, Bible in a Year, Day 29

From Deut 9-12 Moses is recounting everything that has happened, to the detail. Step by step, where they nearly hit wiped out, where and how he prayed to save them.

I think we don’t fully appreciate this statement.

For the Lord your God is

GOD OF GODS……

And LORD OF LORDS……

(Do we even really know what is meant by that statement??????? We say it, we sing it, but do we comprehend????)

A GREAT GOD

A mighty

And a terrible …….

(Deut 10:17)

I think most people like the imagery of the dove or the baby in a manger.

Not the blood of crucifixion, God the man of war, the judging of nations, the disciplinarian of children…..

God is love. But love is many things, it’s not just feel good, cuddly, and safe in a cave.

In Deut 11 we are told how God works with his people to take territory, nations. The authority. The faith. The command. The far reaching dominion.

Does our faith stretch that far?

Can we think like that?

Can we walk with God – our heart and soul fully engaged – in order to have that relationship that comes with blessing, victory and as far as the eye can see???

This God!

And to think, this God became human flesh – in every way – so we could be saved.

Is there anything else on the planet like this God?

Is there any other ideology or philosophy that competes with the kingdom of God?

Stunning!
