Deuteronomy 5-8. God is known as ‘the Faithful God’. That’s why we told to remember the things he has done and said, bring them to the fore always, so we do not forget.
It’s when we forget that we slip into unbelief, into questioning, into compromise…

Deuteronomy 5-8 Moses is reminding Israel to remember the whole story.
He keeps telling them ‘beware that you forget not…’
And why?
Because us humans have a tendency to get to a place where we say look how far I’ve come, look what I’ve done with my own hands and plans…
Christian’s love to quote ‘it is he that gives power to get wealth’ (Deut 8:18) but I rarely hear them read the whole context.
Deut 5 they are being reminded of when God spoke to them from the mountain – again. We just read that in chapter 4. It happened in Exodus 20 and was so significant Moses is telling them – DO NOT FORGET!
Deut 6 he is telling them put it in your heart, don’t forget, it’s for your good!
Deut 7 it’s ‘he keeps his oath and promises, he is faithful’. This is what it looks like when you live him and stay in him.
Deut 8 is an absolute cracker!
Ever wonder about those 40 years? Why?
‘That he might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord does man live’ (Deut 8:3).
Which we know is the rebuttal Jesus gave the devil in the wilderness when he tried to provoke him (Matt 4).
There are principles here, concepts of God, ways of the Spirit, we need to pay attention to.
Don’t get bogged down in the 10 commandments, we know that in Romans Paul explains everything about the law now, because of Christ.
Too many are stuck on the 10 commandments and have not yet made the shift into the Acts 2 experience where those laws are written in the hearts and minds, and those that love God live to please him.
Beautiful part of the Bible, I’m loving it
